Fitting a Timber Bi-Folding Loft Ladder in Morton-on-Marsh

This family wanted a simple easy access loft ladder that the whole family could use safely. A Fakro timber bi-folding ladder does the trick. Light weight, simple and easy to use with strong and comfy treads.

We also boarded out the centre section of the loft space with a raised / floating timber frame. It's really important to raise the boarding over the insulation, as it allows your loft to breathe.

This job was completed in a newly built, 4 bedroom detached house on Blenheim Way, Moreton-in-Marsh, GL56.

Boarding Out a Loft Around Truss Beams in Welford-on-Avon

This house had an inverted truss roof which made it difficult to use as a storage space because of all the diagonal trusses in the loft. We floated a timber frame 300mm above the exsisting ceiling to allow the insulation to sit without being squashed. Cutting out around all the trusses is a long and slow process but once complete, makes this space very usable.

This was done in a 5 bedroom detached house in Welford-on-Avon, CV37.

Fitting a Extra Large Bi-Folding Wooden Loft Ladder in Bromsgrove

  • Fitting a 70/120cm Fakro LWK timber loft ladder in a two bed terrace on Rock Hill, Bromsgrove, B61

This couple had recently moved in to a terrace house and had a lot of bulky items that needed stowing out of the way. Their existing loft hatch was small and did not have a safe fix point ladder to access the loft.

We offered to enlarge the loft hatch and install an extra large version of Fakro's premium LWK wooden bi-folding loft ladder. This way, they could keep the width of the current opening the same and increase the length without the need for any decorating after the new ladder had been installed.

The new hatch was very large at 70cm/120cm. The fix point ladder (with large flat wooden steps and a handrail) made this the perfect solution to access the loft quickly and safely.

Installing Safety Trap Door in a Loft in Stratford-Upon-Avon

It is possible to fit a hinged safety door in your loft. The idea is that when you are up in the loft you can close off the space to stop any potentially very serious accidents from happening. These guys have kids that obviously love exploring all four corners of their house and inevitably want to go in the loft when Dad goes up to get the Christmas tree! They wanted to know that they had peace of mind that when they are all up in the loft and the risk of falling out was reduced significantly by installing this door. Safety first kids!

This safety door was fitted In a 4 bed detached house, built in 2001 on Green Close, Stratford.

Fakro Window Replacement in 1900's Period Barn Conversion Near Stratford-Upon-Avon

Fakro replacement roof windows in a barn conversion

  • fitting a Fakro roof window
  • 550mm/980mm
  • Centre pivot natural pine roof window

in a 1900's period barn conversion in Aston Cantlow, Stratford Upon Avon .

We fitted two replacement Fakro roof windows into an old barn conversion. this was not a very easy task as the old windows were and old discontinued rood window brand with imperial measurements, meant nothing was quiet the right size. This also was not made easy by the small terracotta roof tiles that were extremely fragile and had been cemented in place. This is highly unrecommended. Cementing in roof windows to prevent leakage can actually end up becoming the lead cause of leaking windows. These windows took a lot of time and patients removing the old tiles without breaking them and customising the window size to work correctly with the modern flashing system. However we completed the jobs and the end results was worth he wait. they windows looked like they had always been there wind no damage to the roof.

Loft Ladder and Custom Built Hatch in Worcester

This job demonstrates how well you can utilise your loft space by simply widening out your loft hatch to gain larger, safer access to your loft for storage:

  • Widening out the loft opening,
  • Installing a large, custom built loft hatch,
  • Installing a 3 stage loft ladder

In a 1990's, 2 bed bugalow on Cavendish Street, Worcester

This was a straight forward job of removing a cross beam (noggin) to square up the aperture. This was done in order to make the loft hatch wider so I could accommodate a 3 stage loft ladder. It's really important to widen out the hatch to allow yourself plenty of room for you and your belongings to easily fit though the loft opening- safely and securely.
